Dr. Shaun Barnett was born and raised in the small West Texas town of Plains, Texas. After graduating high school there, he attended Angelo State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He then earned a master’s degree from Sul Ross State University and a Doctorate in Education from Texas Tech University. He began his career in education at Brownfield ISD as a teacher and football/baseball coach. Along with Brownfield, he also taught and coached at Olton ISD and Gorman ISD before getting into administration. As an administrator, Dr. Barnett had stints at Mexia, Paradise, Cumby, Dublin, and finally Stamford. Dr. Barnett retired from the world of education in 2019, but loves staying in touch with his friends in education through the TREA Risk Management Cooperative work. Dr. Barnett also enjoys traveling with his wife, Keri, and spending time with his two sons, their wives, and his grandchildren.
